Modern Text Editor Requirements
- Split window functionality, just like emacs. I consider this an essential feature. The ability to carve up the screen real estate exactly how I want, to be able to view and edit the content of different files in context to each other.
- Scriptability/Automation.
- A modern user interface that conforms to the platform it's running on.
- Easy configurability. Spare me arcane and often contradictory instructions on how to configure the text editor.
And yes, I would happily pay for such a tool.
